Aurora Vision collects only the minimum data necessary to provide the service:
- Location data — used on-device only to show aurora visibility for your area. We do not store or transmit your location to our servers.
- Notification tokens — if you enable push notifications, a device token is stored securely to deliver alerts. It is not linked to your identity.
- Anonymous usage analytics — we may collect anonymised, aggregated statistics (e.g. app crash reports) via Firebase Crashlytics to improve app stability. No personally identifiable information is included.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide real-time aurora forecasts and alerts
- To improve app performance and fix bugs
- To display relevant in-app content
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
3. Third-Party Services
Aurora Vision uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Google Firebase — analytics and crash reporting
- Google AdMob — advertising (free tier users)
- NOAA / Space Weather Prediction Center — aurora data (no personal data sent)
4. Children's Privacy
Aurora Vision is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
5. Data Retention
Notification tokens are retained only as long as needed to deliver alerts. Anonymous crash data is retained for up to 90 days. You can request deletion at any time by contacting us.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold. To exercise these rights, email us at support@auroravision.app.
7. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect any data we process. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
